For those who haven't heard, the NCAA has recently decertified the Marucci CAT5 33/30 bbcor. While no explanation has been given, it appears that the NFHS will, nevertheless, follow suit. Rather unfortunate as I've been recommending this bat to both my high school and collegiate hitting students. How Marucci resolves this issue remains to be seen though I've heard that they'll exchange the CAT5 for a certified model...whatever that may be. Below is a brief article confirming the decertification.

You might be wise to forewarn any high school players you know of who are intending to use the CAT5 33/30 this spring.

As it turns out, the Wilson company (which owns DeMarini as well) apparently blew the whistle on Marucci much like it did on Rip-It last year. Marucci was so back-logged in the production of CAT5 33/30s, it turned to an additional overseas manufacturer who messed up the specs and produced a quantity of bats which, subsequently, did not meet the BBCOR requirements based upon Wilson's test results. This explains why only the 33/30 was banned.
