I'm from White Plains, NY and my team is playing Centennial HS from Ellicott City, Maryland on Thursday. Does anyone know anything about this team? I'm scheduled to pitch. Thanks.

I believe that they are undefeated so far this year. You may want to check the Maryland forum but I'm not sure that anything is posted about them. You can also check the local paper at www.baltimoresun.com
Not only is the paper available, but there are also forums. Centennial is in Howard County so if you go to the Sun, click on Sports and then on high school, you can access the boards (they say Talk About It) and then check the Howard County Baseball thread. That'll probably give you the best info available. You can also check the Washington Post, but their online coverage isn't as good as the Sun's.

I played for WL last year, in the same county. They have a very talented team. Not as great as teams passed. But between scotty and some very young talent they are still good. A hard hitter third basemen and a centerfielder in Bechta that will chase down anything and is also a pretty good lefty pitcher n hitter

Keep the #1 down and away.
Throw strikes with your breaking pitch.
Keep the MF down.
Of course four things can happen:
1. You throw well and the team W.
2. You don't throw well and the team W.
3. You throw well and the team L.
4. You don't throw well and the team L.

not nervous at all. just that all the teams we face around here i at least have some perspective of, and i just wanted to see how this team looks. not nervous though, not at all. never nervous, i've always known as a pitcher to never give the hitter too much credit.

haha interesting theory and one i've heard. I've found, as my coach has also, that by giving the hitter too much respect it takes confidence away from the pitcher. The pitcher should never be afraid of a hitter in any way and should always challenge each and every hitter with everything they have and not worry to themselves that perhaps the hitter might just be better than they are and not challenge them.

Heard the Maryland team did very well in NY. I think their only loss was to Iona Prep. Saw them play on Saturday.
Centennial was undefeated in New York!!!!!
Came from 7 runs down in the 5th yesterday to win 12-7.

Very good team. What teams did they play in NY?
centennial showed a very good presence up here. they came to us first and defeated us 5-1, then off to north rockland 8-2, then new rochelle 12-7. correct me if i'm wrong on any of the scores, i'm just saying what the newspaper said. definitely a strong team though.
