San Antonio Reagan wins bi-district vs. S.F. Austin High School in Austin. Reagan won Game 1 4-2 Friday night, then lost Game 2 5-3, scoring just 3 runs on 10 hits. Reagan regrouped and won Game 3 13-1 (10-run rule), with 15 hits including 2 homeruns by P/OF Grant Harrelson. Brandon Hans gets the win for Game 3.

Reagan advances to sectionals vs. Corpus Christi Carroll this next week.
Rowlett defeats Wylie 4-3 and closes out the series 2 love. Rowlett will face the winner of Mesquite Horn and W.T. White.

Plano West beats Naaman Forest in the rubber game, 12-2 in 6 innings. Aaron Rosborough ends the game in bottom of 6 with a walk-off grand slam. Plano West will face Longview in the next round.

Nice side note, this is the first time Plano West baseball team has been to the state playoffs since the inception of their high school in 2000.
Mitchell won both games we played against C. Heritage and pitched his heart out, hopefully the 200+ pitches in 2 days doesn't come back to harm him or the team.......He looked great!!!

If you listened to the game you heard how well he did and how both teams fought till the bitter end, great matchup and a much needed rest is in store for all players and parents, and for my son he needs to find his game or won't see anymore time on the mound. Frown

Jonathan is doing well, drop him a text/email/call I know he would love to hear from you Spencer.

Is it just me or am I noticing several series with pitchers throwing in multiple games? Now, I know Bostwick finished game 1 in our series with Rockwall & started game 2, but he had thrown only 32 pitches. I don't think there was much "risk" had he thrown another 40-50. I have no access to exact pitch counts and such.....but GNF used Pearce today in game 3, down 8-2, after 90+ 18 hours earlier. And Pitts threw 200+ in 48 hours (did he play a position in game 2?)....and Mulkey and Guest and Kettler all threw in multiple games. Now I'm not saying that all of these guys were overused this weekend....you guys know I see both sides to the pitch count issue. I just find this usual at this stage of the season. Does the Texas 2-game week result in an over-emphasis on 2 pitchers througout the season? I think a team has to have 4 guys to win state....certainly 3. Many of these kids will pitch for a few more weeks....take 2 weeks off....then begin 60-game summer seasons. Our season is over, maybe I'll become too observant. Smile

Keller 2 7 0
Coppell 3 7 0

Individual Leaders

WP--David De La Chapelle. LP--Kaleb Merck. 2B--KEL: Nick Miller 2. COP: Chad Kettler 1, Matt Reynolds 1. HR--COP: Jonathan Walsh 1.

Game 2 was necessary

Box score

R H E
Keller 3 3 2
Coppell 5 2 1

Individual Leaders

WP--Chad Kettler. SV-- De LeChappelle LP--Stephen Kaminski.

The story line of the day is David De La Chapelle.
De La came into game one with 2 on, 1st and 2nd in the top of the fourth with one out and shut down a hot hitting Keller team. De La came back in the second game and got the save, again shutting down the Keller bats.

For Keller they got a great game three from Steve Kaminski, a kid who throw 7.1 inning all season 2 hit Coppell for 6 innings.

Guest threw 30 pitches Thursday and less than 40 today. Guest had not thrown for 7 days prior to Thursday, but did leave game early today due to soreness in shoulder.

With 7 days rest...warm-up...30 pitches...1 full day rest, I don't think Guest was over used.

Congrats on your series win, looks like all three games in your series were close with both Keller and Coppell giving a great effort.

Both Coppell/Keller games were at Hebron today. Thank you to the Hebron hosts. Great job! Exciting games, Keller led in the 5th inning in both games before the Coppell comebacks. Keller also out hit Coppell in both games, just Coppell had some big extra base hits.
Can't speak for the kid or parents, and I only mentioned the number of pitches as it was common knowledge since it was on the radio, so I am not talking out of school.

This may be a case were addreneline and a huge competitive nature might have been the driving force and the kid just fat out kept going, and going and going.....knowing the family I think it would be safe to say that they will make sure he is doing whatever he needs to do post game to recover.

Congrats on your series win.

Thanks for the help with his name and I fixed it, were you there? If so you should have looked me up. We had a rough 1st inning in the 1st game and never could catch back up.
