He's been just awful tonight! His buddies get credit for having his back though.

As I'm watching the AS game I have been browsing a few different baseball sites. The one thing in common... all boards had threads talking about how bad McCarver and Buck are at calling baseball games.

Take it upstairs and blame management and production. They continue do things that detract from the broadcast rather than enhance it.

Those little stupid graphics they have, like the flames that show up in the bug when a pitcher throws over 95...it's not supposed to look like a nightclub act.

Then you've got the Chipper Jones pregame speech. That pretty much defines awkward and contrived. Yet some group of eggheads said, "yup, that looks great, let's air it!" I wonder if anyone really was gullible enough to believe that there's pep talks for exhibition games?

These are the same Einsteins that give us McCarver and Buck.

Pathetic.

55Mom - You got me. I was hoping there was announcement after the game that I did not see. The game, McCarver & Buck put me to sleep somewhere in the 6th. I'm staying at the only hotel in Maryland without an HD TV. It wasn't worth watching.

Can someone nudge McCarver to tell him that Youkilis got traded to the White Sox? I don't think Tim got the memo.

Agreed! The one highlight last night, imo, was the pregame presentation where George Brett spoke. I did enjoy that. In fact, I thought that the presentation might preclude a pretty good broadcast. I did have my hopes up.
I enjoy the pomp and circumstance of the pregame introductions. Then I turn off the game. All-star games in every sport are usually boring. Football and hockey are the worst since no one wants to hit. They don't play defense in basketball. Due to the nature of baseball it's more likely to be like a regular game.
