The McKinney Marshals have announced their tryout schedule for their summer 2006 15-18U teams. Tryouts will be held at Richardson High School. RHS is located on Beltline Rd, west of I-75 Central Expressway. In the case of rain or cold weather call 214-551-9546.

The tryout schedule is as follows:

December 3

330pm 16U

December 4
1pm 17-18U
330pm 17-18U

December 10

The cost to play for the Marshals is $1,025. This cost covers EVERYTHING except travel expenses. The Marshals will field 4 teams in 2006: 15, 16, and 2 18U's. Our teams play an estimated 40 games. We play in the Lone Star Baseball League and play in 4 showcase tournaments or invitationals with our postseason starting at the AABC state tournament which results in a 5 tournament min.

Don't let the name McKinney fool you. We have kids play for us from as far as Mesquite, Midlothian, Keller, and even the far west town of Lewisville. We are a true metroplex select program with proven success.

Our 15 year old team will be once again headed by Mark Ferrer (Former player at OCU) and Devon Mize (Former player at AC). Their team was 28-12 last summer and finished 3rd in the SS National Championships.

Our 16 year old team will be headed by "Evil" Dave Ostroff (Former player at Dartmouth) and Brian "BT" Thomas (Former player TAMU).Their team went 26-20 last summer and finished second at the AABC state tournament.

Our 17U team will be headed by Lance Alford (Former player at TWU). The 17U team went 25-15 last summer and finished 3rd at the AABC state tournament.

Our 18U team will be headed by Andy Postema (Former Orioles INF) and Rene Asprion (Reds Assoc. Scout). This team went 30-18 last summer and finished second at the AABC state tournament.

Our teams carry small rosters. We believe that you pay to play and that all the kids have to contribute for us to be successful. Our 15U team will carry 13 kids, 16U team to carry 14 kids, and 17 and 18 teams to carry 15-16 kids.

I understand that these clubs are trying to get the jump to get the best players, but at whose expense?

I would venture to say, the kids expense.

What good is it to make a select team and then not get to play (hs ball or summer ball)because of an overuse injury.
I know that there is a balance in there somewhere, I just hope that some of these players parents know enough about their own child to make a sound decision on when to shut it down for a while.
Like I said, if that is ok with you and your player, go for it. I just don't want to see a player or parent cave in and have a panic attack when they see one of these tryouts posted and sacrifice some much needed down time in order to play summer ball.IMO

By the way, if they are good enough, it doesn't matter when they try out. They'll take them.
There has been some confusion on the original message as to when the 17's should come out. In the message it states that 18U's should come out at both times on the Sunday's. Just to clear things up, 17's should come at the earlier time unless you cannot make it, then the later time will be fine. Hope I made that clearer. I've been at the hospital the past 2 days and nights taking care of my bride and our newest addition. Smile
