So a player on sons team was diagnosed with a MCL strain. He was told by Dr to take a couple of weeks off of pitching, and he should be fine, he could pass, just not pitch. Player is 17yo. Since son is the "ace" he asked me if this sounded correct, or if he should seek a second opinion, which, just because son can throw a little, doesnt mean I know a darn thing. But I know where to find out! Has anyones son had this type of injury, and if so, could you please relate experience. Id like to relay the info, and also to know for myself just in case, knock on wood. Thanks in advance for any info, it is always appreacited.

Thanks for the replies guys. I told him to go to the ASMI site and look around. I think that because the pain that he had was not really too bad, that their doc didnt really take it too seriously. I know that these things are usually 6-8 weeks off, then a gradual throwing program, which is what I told him. I explained that this is the type of thing that needs to be taken very seriously, and that if he is lucky, then his son will only be out a couple of months of baseball. If not, then if he continues to throw through this type of injury, he may be in for a big scar and a year plus out of baseball. Hopefully, he gets that second opinion. His dad told me that they are hoping to nurse it through the summer, because the son will be playing showcase type of baseball, you know 3 inning appearences and whatnot, but Im not sure that he understands the seriousness of the situation.
