Excellent facilities, established program, strong D3 conference, good coaching staff -- D3 restrictions, strong cross-town rivalry, no athletic money.

Confession: I'm biased towards HSU and Coach Coleman.

We met Coach Coleman a few weeks ago and were thoroughly impressed. The man knows his stuff and seems to genuinely care about his players. We watched one of their scrimmages vs. Midland College (coached by Coach Coleman's brother) and both teams looked good. Their stadium is nice too. Sorry I don't have anything to offer about McMurry.

Sorry - I missed the line you wrote about HSU. He is a nice guy. We watched them scrimmage back in September. We expected to talk with him 20 -30 minutes. He gave us 2 hours - he is very enthusiastic and appears to be a man of integrity.

McMurry has an awesome baseball program. Your son's hitting instructor would be John Bynington - the all-time best hitter to come out of Texas A&M. Look him up on the McM website for his bio. The head coach, Lee Driggers also has great credentials. Coach Driggers, Coach Byington and Coach Saltzgaber are all great guys and run a great program with awesome facilities. McMurry has a wonderful, small school atmosphere with the best dorms in Abilene. Lots of room in the dorms and newly remodeled. McMurry is centrally located in Abilene.
