Many of you may know MMWS son Mike. I was informed by MMWS this week that Mike will have Tommy John surgery on Monday. Please keep him your prayers for a speedy recovery.
Sad news -- a big blow to the Rams and disappointing to Mike and his family. I hope his recovery goes well. With the passion this family has for baseball, I'd bet we'll see MG back on the hill in the future -- stronger than ever.
What a shame. MMWS told me last weekend that Mike hurt his elbow and they were going to get it checked out. I know they are disappointed to have this diagnosis. He should come back stronger than ever though. Best of luck to Mike and keep your head up. You'll be back on the mound before you know it.
I talked with Mike and MMWS last week as well - MMWS told me Saturday that the tear was not in the normal part of the elbow and made it more difficult for the doctor to find. MMWS also said that the Doctor really impressed him (if you know MMWS - that guy must be good, MMWS isn't easily impressed)
The rehab to full recovery should be 12 months - so he should be back in time for next springs season!!
Just got off the phone with MMWS. Mike's surgery went very well. He is expected to start throwing in a live game in approximately 12 months. The tear was real bad and would not have healed without surgery. The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister and MMWS was very pleased with the outcome. He is expected to pick up several MPH on his fastball making that illegal move to first more dangerous.
