Wow, awesome reports for Tyler.Congratulations.
CD,
Great links, thanks! Darin and Vance are both having outstanding success. What fun to watch "our boys" continue to play this game at such a high level!

CD..
Thanks for posting the article and to everyone for the kind words.
I too enjoy following our players and have them all bookmarked. I just wish the MiLB website didn't limit the number of players you can bookmark.
My son and Darin have been facing off for the last two seasons and I'll tell ya....Darin is a pest at the plate and on the bases.
I also thought I'd share this video recap from Vance's game. Not to take away from his pitching but the HR was pretty cool too!

Vance is an exceptional pitcher.
Gives Darin a run for his money every at bat.
And how about this - Vance was just named AA Eastern League Pitcher of the Week!!!
He is very very good.
Continued success and congrats!!!

Homecoming last night. Son got the start at "home park" (San Jose Giants)...100+ old friends showed up and gave him a big roar at beginning of game, with each K and when he was finished (scheduled 5 innings). Got the "W." First time I ever heard this from him, but said he was a little nervous.
Pretty surreal to see him pitch at a park I used to take him too since about age 2 or 3. Quite strange, but quite exhilarating too!

Good stuff justbb - thanks for posting the pictures!
My son got to play five minutes from our home so I have a pretty good idea what you are talking about.

BTW, the boy is sleeping in his own bed for a few days. Kind of nice for him (and us too).
Erik Davis is one of the leaders in his league and in high A, that is a huge accomplishment, way to go ED!
Thanks for posting the pics and mentioning the 'Home" ballpark, JBB. Just this Monday, I had the same pleasure of watching my son pitch at the old ballpark where he saw games as an infant. Back then we went to a game there not long after seeing the Braves at Fulton County Stadium. At the local game he encouraged the (then) Yankees' affiliate by doing the Tomahawk Chop.
Nuttin' better!
TMM_Dad - your son has been blessed with a nice body. I see power in his upper and his lower half.
justbaseball,
When Erik makes the next step up the ladder, let me know! That next rung takes him to my neck of the woods.
I can get you a Flying Squirrels hat if you like!

Midlodad,
Unless you have moved, the next step for ED is in the Texas League, San Antonio Missions, AA affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
It also takes TMM dad's player there as well, Northwest Naturals, AA affiliate of the KC Royals.

Oops, sorry, I thought he was pitching FOR San Jose, not just IN San Jose.
Too bad, I had already gotten my hopes up!

Haven't had much to report to this thread so far since Jerseyson has been on the DL since mid April!
I'm happy to report that he started his rehab assignment in State College last week. A bit of a bonus for us is that SC is only a few hours away so we got a chance to run over and see him play on Sunday before he gets assigned to his normal team. He went and turned into a man on us
Love seeing everyones pictures... here are a couple of Q.

That's ok, I am sure he wouldn't mind the flying squirrel hat anyway.
State College is a very nice ballpark.
Glad to see Quinton back on the hill! He is a nice looking young fellow!

Worley gets called up by Phillies!
From Reading’s release…
(Reading, PA) - Reading Phillies RHP Vance Worley, who is currently in the midst of a 17-straight scoreless innings streak, has had his contract selected by the Philadelphia Phillies, as announced earlier today by Philadelphia Phillies Senior Vice President and General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. Worley is the first Reading Phillies player to be promoted straight from Reading AA to Philadelphia this season.
Congratulations to Vance and DB2BMom.
(this news is so cool I started a new topic! )

One early writeup:
"In today’s 9th inning, Worley’s fast ball topped out at 95 mph with a 76 mph curve ball and an 83-84mph slider. He looked solid, changed speeds well and the end result was 2 strikeouts and a fly ball out to center. Great job by the rookie!"

Q is finally off the disabled list and back with his team in West Virgina. Thanks to all that were so suportive... Here are a few pictures I stitched together from his last start that gives a pretty cool visual of a pitchers motion. I do love new software
jerseydad - love the new software!
Could you possibly show a bigger sequence of pictures? I think it would be cool to see the whole motion.
I can see using this as a tool. Photograph your son this way when he is on his game. If there is a lull down the road, photgraph that sequence and compare. I am thinking there could be automated analysis techniques for troubleshooting both pitchers and hitters using these still sequences. Obviously, the faster the camera and the amount of memory it has, a very fine sequence of images could be analyzed. Good stuff

I love the action sequence of Quinton! He looks great!

We are headed to Dayton this morning for a 3 game set. A blessing indeed to all the games we have seen this summer but I wouldn't have been upset to see less if he were in another league. Here is a photo from a game the other day where my son collided with the catcher at home and was called out. The catcher took the worst of it and was down for about 5 minutes after the play. When my son called after the game, he said he knocked the stuffing out of him. I said no, "You knocked two homeruns out of him" The catcher went on to hit two homeruns and a double after the collision.
Great action shot! You can tell by looking, he's one of those s****** guys. Let us know how the three game set goes.
CD, don't know what happened but it would not let me write the word s c r a p p y.
When you are in Dayton, say hello to Jason Baker, Reds scout and hitting coach and 1b coach for the REDS.
He is one our coaches for Australia and often visits
my home. Maybe we send a college team in this year.

Bob - I wish I would have seen this post sooner or I would have said hello. I believe Jason is standing in for Ken Griffey, Sr. who recently had hip surgery.
Three Bagger - thanks for the kind comments. Scr-appy is a good/accurate description for him and he would appreciate that very much. Another parent told me a few weeks back that he was an "old-school" player and he loved that description as well. Thanks again!

Stealing third during last night's game:
Hi ClevelandDad,
Just looked up your son on MiLB and noticed he's having a great season. Congrats! I bet you're having fun this summer.

Of course we are having fun and as you know, this game humbles everyone.

Simply awesome - congrats to Preston!!!
We were in Ft. Wayne Indiana this weekend. Maybe the nicest ballpark I've seen. Here is a picture of my son standing next to the tallest player in the Midwest League in 6'8" Nate Freiman. My son is almost 5'11 and dwarfed by him. Nate is a fine player and his Dad used to post here at one time.
Tell Young Mr. Bortnick to stand ON TOP of the base next time he gets next to Nate!
What a great year he's having!!!
Congratulations Dad!
