This is great! It reminds me of a story from high school. As seniors, we told one of the juniors that was new to the team that coach traded him to our crosstown rivals for 2 fungos.
Now, this kid was very gullible and a bit sensitive, so he took the bait.
He could not believe it, "how could coach do this to me? I thought he liked me?"
We were like, "yeah, he wants to see you so he can collect all your stuff. You know how much coach likes his fungos."
So our teammate does not dress for practice, brings all his stuff to coach and says, "coach, here's my stuff. Couldn't you get more for me than two fungos?"
The look on our coaches face was priceless!!! Our coach says "son, I think your teammates are having a little fun with you. But, since you are so gullible to believe it, I probably couldn't get 2 broken fungos for you! There ain't no trades in high school baseball! Go get dressed and start running foul poles because you're late!"
We just about fell out. It took about 30 minutes for laughter to stop.
Oh, and my teammate that got traded for 2 fungos, he is a head coach at a 5A school in this area! Everytime I see him, I tell him that I have a broken fungo for him.
