Why F1 would do this is beyond me:
B1 doubles but misses 1st base. F1 attempts an appeal at 1st, but balks. Is B1 awarded 3rd base? Can the defense make another appeal?

I believe, but I'm not positive here guys, that in this case since the balk is considered an "attempt", the appeal for first is dead, and since this makes the BR's miss at first base legal and a touch, the balk would grant him third...not positive though...by the way...I HATE when that happens...lol
If a pitcher balks when making an appeal it is a "play". In the scenario above the runner is awarded third on the balk and the defense can no longer appeal.
If this happened in a high school game under NFHS (Fed) rules it would really be strange because the defense can appeal without having the ball put in play.

Pilsner to clarify what you just said let me pose this situation to make sure I understand you.

Yes. To appeal in the manner you suggested is legal under any rules code since the ball is still live.
Under Fed rules the defense can appeal even if the ball became dead at the end of the play. (time out) All the defense has to do is tell the ump they want to appeal the runner's miss of first base.

The smartest way to live ball appeal in the case would be to tag the runner at second and say he missed first. The saves the runner breaking, and keeps the ball from being thrown out of play.
In HS they could tequest time nad just dead ball appeal it.
Unfortunately some coaches still believe the myth that it has to go to mound to appeal.

Also, a LB appeal like this becomes a timing play if there were 2 outs.

Is the defense required to wait for "time"?
Or could say F4 take the cut off throw and simply ask, "R1 left early", without throwing nor tagging the runner?

Say F4 does indeed ask during live ball with no tag of runner nor base?
I will assume Blue would rule "safe".
And I will reluctantly assume that, "no second attempt" on the appeal would be upheld?
Seems a bit odd that a verbal would be accepted only at "dead ball intervall".
So, if the ball goes to F1, still live, coach say's "appeal". The pitcher must request and be granted Time, before the verbal appeal will be allowed?

LonBlue67 if I'm no mistaken with two out that would be a force out at 1st and if any runs had scored they would NOT count.
