My son was invited to a junior day. Our season opening is on the same day. His coach does not want him to miss the first game of the season. Would missing the jr. day kill his chances of getting an offer from that school?
Only other advice I would give would be for your son to drop the school a note saying that he wishes he could be there, but will be at his season opener instead. I believe the college would expect nothing less than your son playing in his HS game.
Agree with jbb. Our son had same worry. Was invited to jr day to school he had interest in but was unable to attend due to distance and schedule issues with spring ball. They were very understanding. He kept in touch by updating them with his schedule, etc. They continued to follow him during the summer and eventually made him an offer. He did not end up committing to that school but just wanted to point out not attending junior day did not affect his opportunity with that school. I know how stressful it can be trying to sort out these recruiting issues!
You can request another junior day due to your high school baseball game. My son requested a different junior day and it was granted by the college. This college had multiple junior days, but we only found out they had multiple junior days because he asked.
Thanks to everyone for the input. We emailed the coach. He replied back that they are not holding another jr. day but did invite us to a game. Hopefully that's a good sign.
