I'd love to hear any feedback about the baseball program, the coach and how the school works the balance of sports and schoolwork. Also, is there a negative within the student body about being an athlete, as there is at some Ivies?
Well 4thGen plays in the same conference, (NEWMAC) as MIT.
They were not really competitive in baseball last year. They just did not have enough athletes and they had to prioritize studies over athletics.
One of 4thGen's best friends was being recruited by MIT last year but did not get accepted. Anything below an 800 on the math SAT and you'll have a tough time. Having said all of that if a kid can get in to MIT it's hard to imagine not going.
Rising senior here; I was recruited by MIT but 2 things made me turn in another direction: 1) Admissions process (there is very little security for athletes, even those who are thoroughly qualified, and 2) The attention to baseball is a step down to some of its peer academic schools (namely the Ivies). There is definitely enough there though, academically (obviously) and athletically to keep a serious student-athlete interested IMO. Feel free to PM me.
Briggs field is on campus. I know that last season they had to move the weekends games against 4thGen's team to his home field because MIT's field did not drain well from some rain they'd had.
