Mitch Harris signs with the Cardinals

Interesting... but why should it really surprise me? The Cardinals are more than willing to blow away money for somebody who will not (or might not in this case) help them. Meanwhile, they won't open their wallets to sign someone who can help them.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens with this. I'm happy for Mitch because he could potentially fulfill multiple dreams now: playing professional baseball and serving his country.

I was wondering what the likleyhood of an Academy Graduate signing a deferred contract was...now I know.
