I'm 16 years old but I have a pretty big hand. It is 8 1/5 inches from bottom of palm to top of middle finger and 9 1/5 inches from tip of pinky to tip of thumb. I'm looking for my first catcher's mitt after being an infielder this whole time. I use a 12 1/2 infielders mitt which is pretty nice sized on me. I always wear a batting glove under my mitt so take that into consideration. Also what's the recommended brand for catchers? Thanks in advance.

There are a lot of threads on catcher's mitts, just search (here is just one of many http://community.hsbaseballweb...177#2982475077470177) The size of the glove will depend upon your style of catching and whether or not the glove feels right on your hand and your ability to control it. Most of the brands have a decent mitt in their lineup.
The best advice is to actually find a store where you can try on a few different mitts and see which one feels best on your hand. Each company makes them a little differently, so what may be fine for someone else may feel like crap to you.
One thing you want to keep in mind is that if you are able to actually close a new catchers mitt - you don't want that one. It won't hold up to HS velocity pitching for very long. You want one that feels like concrete when it is brand new.
