JIMS DAD HERE.....
just had a local mlb scout call to watch the boy play for a second time . he asked to fill out a information card to get him into the system to watch and follow . he also wants him to go to a work out in the organizations minor league area park . This is way over my head now .... does this happen often ? does it mean anything ?
should i be worried or happy as hell. one of his old coaches was also a scout for another mlb team and was also impressed with his work and has a file of stats and notes started on him . will this effect his college /recruiting???
if you want some of this plate ,COME TAKE IT! it not nice to steal on my pitcher !!!! i get VERY angry when you steal on my pitcher . that means i have to go to the mound and lie to him and take the blame .... you Dont want me that angry!

Be happy... but don't start counting your bonus $$$$ Wink

When they call within a month before your eligible draft then you can get excited..

At your son's age scouts are merely developing a "follow list". No need to get excited unless a national cross-checker and several more scouts from the same organization stop by, and chances are you may not even know if that happens, until that month prior...

But do enjoy the initial thrill, that your son is good enough to garner attention..

No, this will not hurt college recruiting. Recruiters are used to running parallel with pro scouts. No problems there.

If anything, you may find that all these "baseball people" -- college and pro -- talk to each other a lot. If a pro scout mentions that he saw an interesting kid somewhere, that may prompt the college scouts to come by to see for themselves as well.
