I was thinking about signing up my boys and want more info on the Urban Youth Academy.

would you recomend the Urban Youth Academy?

How old are your boys? Please say hello to Carl Nichols, former ML catcher and the Head Coach at the ML Academy. The MLSB has a office at the Academy.

The coaches are all former pro players.

Bob Williams started the Area Code Games. He now Administrates the "Good Will Games Series".

The Rays have a "SCOUT TEAM" for the Fall 2011.

We assist the Rays scout to organize the "tryout"
for the scouts and college coaches who also attend.

In addition, Goodwill Series evaluates the players for the USA Labor Day tournament, the SSK wood bat events in May, July and August and the Australia December trip.

Players who are interested in attending the Rays tryout in May and August can complete a profile on our web site <www.goodwillseries.org>.

We will have the SSK maple bats available for purchase at all events.

It's good to hear that MLB remains committed to its Compton player Academy. They shut down their Compton umpire training clinic that had resulted in numerous scholarships to professional umpire school.

Looks like the Urban Youth Academy program had some success on draft day, though some of that list includes boys who played at showcases (I doubt Ryan Garvey, for instance, needed the program).

I believe some were just there to participate on the MLB scouting combine held by MLB. I wonder what the word "product" is defined as in the article. 4 players from our program are on the list.

Maybe we should see if aldoinla believes that Lucas was a "product" of the UYA?

Hopefully the academy has helped a lot of players who wouldn't have otherwise gotten much of a chance to play ball despite a bit of hype from this article.

Aldonia was bit surprised to see his son's name. He had only been to the complex once.
