About time. I've listened the past couple of years on the internet, but this should be interesting to say the least. Date and time aren't conducive for working stiffs, but there's always TIVO.

Draft on ESPN2

At first thought, I agreed that it may be on and gone. But then I started thinking about all the other so-called sporting events that pollute the airways and cable (meaning they could be showing more baseball games).

And what was this chess-boxing thing on Sports Center the other day?

I'll watch the draft if I can find the deuce on a TV somewhere.

From a ratings standpoint, it's in the afternoon on a weekday; probably not a highly viewed time slot anyway. What else might they be running at that time?
I actually think it will outdraw whatever else they would put in that time slot. They are planning on doing the first round only. I'm guessing a lot of MLB fans will watch to see who their favorite team selects and to get a look at that player.

ESPN will be at our National Predraft filming players. We have sent them a lot of photos (for graphics) and video of top players. I think they will build this up over the next month and create a lot of interest.

The bottom line is that it's a good promotion for baseball.

I was talking to '08 son a couple of weeks ago about NFL vs. MLB drafts. He said the big difference: no highlight films. Good point. There are usually a number of HS players selected. How many of their games are taped? How many college games? (Probably quite a few in college, but I doubt it's anything like football or basketball.)

I hadn't heard of the PG's National Predraft. Sounds like a good idea. I looked at the website and it was a little lean on information. PG, could you tell us more? Are all these guys college players?

Bottom line... That would be a BAD promotion for baseball. Smile

Surely, you jest!

However we have a few other people who will be involved and others, like myself, who will be helping from a hiding place.

ESPN Names Perfect Game ESPN’s Leading Authority on Amateur Baseball

Looks like the draftee's background information presented on the show will be thorough and acurate. Will 5 minutes between selections be enough? Smile
