Dr. Baseball,

Wow! Just wow!

That was worth my miserable day at work tomorrow.

Sincerely,

East Coast Fan

P.S. I hate that one team has to lose.

Dr. Baseball was my fantasy baseball name for about ten years. Strappin’ Jocks was my fantasy football team.

Can you see the bills the Astros have coming due in the next three years? Altuve, Correa, Springer, Keuchel, Gonzalez and McCullers all free agents in a couple years of each other? Then Bregman?

BTW, Altuve signed a 4yr/12.5M contract in 2014 w club options in 2018 and 2019 for $6M a year.

This plate ump has certainly made things interesting...  definitely lacks consistency with his zone.  Not sure if I've ever seen so many calls that drew animated reaction from the hitters and, most often, it looks like the hitters have been right.

Cabbage you are way to kind...that UMP sucked. But who all remembers the link below...compared to Eric Gregg he had good night.

Hmmmmm?   Lots of talk this morning about the balls being juiced. Puig's one handed HR was pretty strange.

Very Strange.

I read about the slicker balls. Verlander had stated he had trouble with slider, as did Darvish.

Ahhh, conspiracy theory in the WS....did they do it to make the game more exciting for viewer ratings?

I am shocked the MLB would do something like this....wait this an internet forum and the sarcasm doesn't always come out as clearly as intended!

The MLB obviously changed the ball at some level before the season started this year, I realize there is no smoking gun other then every performance level indicator I have seen from all the stat sites. it also seems obviously apparent that these aren't the same balls that were being used during the regular season...why, how does even matter?? those are questions that can be debated for hours and days.

It kind of amazes me that the MLB would think nobody is going to notice, ask questions or do any research...I mean how tough can it be to buy a few of the foul balls from the various games and stack them up to game balls from July, or last October or whatever? I mean that doesn't sound like it should be that big of a task IMO.

The players did that already, they did the blindfold test on used balls and by feel picked out the difference right away. They state it has to do with how they prepare the balls in advance. Thats BS.

This is nothing done that is illegal.

DING, DING, DING..we have a winner. Let's see 22 HR's in 5 games so far..no way the ball could be juiced right?

I like the offense. I think it’s been fun to watch it. I think the young talent on both teams is exciting for baseball. My son played in rookie league with Correa. Said then he was so good. Watching him is exciting. Watching these kids in their young 20,s is fun for me. Both teams have some very exciting players. Watching guys my son played against in college is really fun.

I am not a pitchers parent so dnt know about the balls. But I always like offense. I get bored with all dominant pitching. Sorry to the pitching parents but love hitting.

I'm sure they are within specifications:

"MLB declined to comment on the story, except to note that the league regularly tests the balls to make sure they fall within a defined range of standards. (Rawlings, the manufacturer of MLB’s baseballs, did not respond to a request for comment.) MLB’s statement might be true,9 but it is hollow: The range of acceptable measurements is so wide that, according to a 2000 report commissioned by MLB, two balls could both pass inspection even if they were constructed so differently that one would be hit 49 feet further than the other. My own research shows that drag alone could lead to a 30 foot difference in fly ball distance, which fits the results of controlled experiments on official baseballs. Nathan found that just a 7 foot differencein batted-ball distance is enough to raise home run rates by 25 percent, which means that MLB’s standards are so broad that they could permit a 100 percent change in home run rates without the commissioner ever finding a ball outside the acceptable range."

Very exciting game, and the team that had to win did. Astro's held serve, back to LA for games 6/7. Two great teams battling it out and so many story lines. If Kike is in LF he likely guns down Fisher, Morrow convinces Doc he can pitch, the umpire hurt the Dodgers more as they are the best in the league at managing the strike zone, how MLB allows that kind of zone in a WS game is beyond me, love the grit of both teams, the frustration of post season Kershaw continues, the ball, the bullpen, on and on...

On to game 6 where only a couple of those balls go out at Dodger stadium which will be back to normal temps now, low 60's to high 50's at game time and the pen gets a days rest. How important will home field be ? Thank goodness MLB changed the silly rule that winner of All-Star game... This is a great WS!

I still have Dodgers in 7, but wow, after the first 5 games, anything can happen!

Dodgers will have to bounce back. That was a tough loss. Astros have Verlander, and a one game lead with two to play.

But anyone making predictions on the WS have already been proven foolish. This is a great series!

What? Foolish?

I picked the Astros in six and Keuchel to (kinda, sorta in a round about way) out duel Kershaw last night. Technically, I was kinda right.

Thats my story and I’m sticking to it. :-)

Atta boy...Keuchel in a good old fashion pitchers duel....you nailed it brother! I feel like I could have written those exact words to a buddy of mine as we texted about the game last night. I told him 3 runs for either side was going to be enough, but I thought the Astros would get to Kershaw first due to past results in the playoffs! I was kinda right....in some way....sort of!!

Fear and Loathing in Los Angeles

Big game here in Los Angeles tonight. I'll be in my seat at the Stadium with a barf bag in my hand. What a series!

Weather is much cooler. And the ball just dies at night at Dodger Stadium with this kind of weather. We'll still see home runs. Just not as many. Dodger Stadium is a big yard unlike minute made.

I like the match up w/ Hill vs Astros . Astro hitters are young FB hitters . Guys like Hill and Alex Wood seemingly do better against those type of hitters compared to Power guys like Kershaw. Astro RH hitters were sitting middle in on Kershaw Sunday and it paid off for them . The same with Jansen. Power vs Power and those young Astro hitters have beat up the Dodger power arms .

Verlander has been outstanding this post season. He's the opponent tomorrow for the Dodgers . If they can beat Verlander, They'll force a game 7 . That will not be an easy task.

But there is optimism here in Los Angeles. Dodger hitters saw Verlander 5 days ago and touched him up a little. Bellinger is going good and that creates another weapon vs Verlander. National league park. National league rules. The last 3 games have been total American league games. In LA the Astros lose a bat. And Hinch will have some tough decisions if it's a tight game he has a guy in scoring position mid- game and Verlander is coming up.

Dodger bench is DEEP and built for the double switch. Both bullpens are tired. But I would argue LA has more talent in the Pen. So, we have tired A guys . They have tired B guys.

It's gonna be an epic game. And impossible to predict. If this world series has taught us anything it has taught us to expect the unexpected .
