Major League Baseball came out with their Top 10 Prospects by position and unbelievably there was an Alumni of Trombly Baseball that made the list for each and every position!

C- #8 Austin Romine
1B- #2 Freddie Freeman
2B- #5 Danny Espinosa
3B- #7 Josh Vitters
SS- #8 Grant Green
OF- #2 Bryce Harper
LHP- #8 Tyler Matzek

It's players like these guys that have built our organization into what it is today. I appreciate their commitment to us and I wish them luck as they continue their journey.

Congratulations, Good Stuff! I think that the thread that CD started was referring to us parents tooting our horn about our own kids AFTER certain questions that begin a thread. Steve's not coming on here bragging about his own son, unless of course he wants to start a thread on an 8u team? Wink

I've never met Steve, but we've talked on the phone and exchanged emails. My son played for him a couple times this past Fall, including the Fall Classic in Arizona. The first time my son played with him was a scrimmage game against Chapman College. There was a couple scouts at the field standing below me, and I noticed a guy (I later figured out it was Steve) come up to them and hand each scout a Hand Written roster of the kids that were playing for him that evening. The roster had approximately 18 players, and it included their HS, graduations year, and position. Yes, he had handwritten two full rosters for a scrimmage game...I was impressed.

The week following the Fall Classic, Steve Trombly was on the phone talking to numerous coaches about my kid. He'd only known my son for a little over a week, but he was willing to help him in the recruiting process. It's evident that he's passionate about his program, but more impressive to me is how he tries to find his players a home beyond HS. For that, he can toot his horn...or vuvuzela! Big Grin
CPLZ,
Sorry if you have a problem with this thread. I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone. Perhaps I should have started it and said something generic about the list and then came on with a different screen name and pumped up our academy! (ha ha). The point is I feel that this is an amazing thing and wanted to share the info. Also, if you look how my comments were listed in the original post you will see that I credited the players (these guys and all the others who have participated with us) for building our organization, not our organization building these players. I feel that many coaches, teams, organizations promote their alumni in a way of look what we did! I have always been of the belief and will always be that it's the quality of the players and families that participate with us that makes our program what it is.

Craig,
Thanks for the kind words. I believe that I do this for the right reasons and one of my main goals is to help players play baseball once they graduate from HS. I will do whatever I can to help each and every player achieve this. Kyle is a very good player and I believe the sky is the limit for him. In fact, he is one of the better all around athletes in Southern CA. It will be fun watching him as he continues to develop and mature each step of the way. Thanks again for choosing to participate with us!

As far as promoting my own son, I can do that too! Today is my Twins 6th Birthday and I am coaching my son's team again this year. All I could say is watch out for the Placentia Pony Shetland Angels! Our offense is so loaded that I guarantee you that we will bat our entire line-up every inning. We're going to dominate this season and win the Shetland World Series!!!!
Thanks CD!

This thread is about the "MLB Top Prospects". I had some comments on players that I had the privilege to coach. Come on people, do the same!

Are there any parents of any of these guys out there? Former Coaches? Teammates? Teammates Parents?

The list of players is loaded with some very good players and it will be awesome to see many of them playing in the Big Leagues soon.

It's a pretty cool thing when you see someone playing at a young age and they end up playing in the Big Leagues (or professional sports).

I still remember seeing Alex Rodriguez play in the National Classic when I was in HS. He 2 years older then me and he was unbelievable!

I saw Tiger Woods play golf in HS as he was a year older then me and his HS was in our league. He was well know then obviously and I had some friends on the golf team so I went out and watched him play. WOW!

I saw what many people claim to be the best HS football game ever in CA. It was a CIF Championship Game with Santa Margarita and Tustin. Santa Margarita had Carson Palmer and Tustin had Desean Foster. Palmer threw for like 6 TD's and Foster ran for like 6 TD's. It was like a heavyweight fight.

Of course I have seen many Major League guys play as amateurs whether it be in the same dugout, in the opposing dugout, or through the fence.

The bottom line is congratulations to all of the guys listed and GOOD LUCK!!!
