Anyone else playing in a MLK weekend tournament? We're going into this one with 2 legit, but not dominant pitchers, 2 backup pitchers, 2 kids with decent arms and one pitcher who hasn't touched a ball since August and can only play on Monday.

We'll play 4 games minimum and 6 if we were to make it to the championship. Obviously, with limited pitching my expectations are not high, but of course I do have high hopes.

We're playing this weekend. Sunday night right now, and we seem to have advanced to the playoffs despite some poor play. We are playing at Riverside Big League Dreams tomorrow...hopefully we can play well enough to advance to the semi's or even the finals...we just have to get our bats going. Defense and pitching is doing really well.

I know where you are talking about CADad (71 &91: BLD Chino Hills)....how are you faring so far?
My sons play in So-Cal, 8U, Corona Rockies & 15U, Norco Cougars, the 11U is taking some time off. We were at BLD Chino Hills to watch some of his old team mates play. Corona has a new 14U team being formed by Dave Yates, he runs the Power Ally Training Facility. He is looking for some 14-15 YO for an RBI team if anyine is interested. What age divisions doe your sons play in we know each other or at least see each other often.
We showed up without enough pitching and it showed. The preliminary results can be found at MLK Results These will probably only be up for a day or so.

IrishDad,
Looks like the Temecula Irish did pretty well.

We did play a 13AAA team from Temecula, the Longhorns on Sunday. That was the only game we had even a decent pitcher available to throw. He wasn't throwing his off speed pitch for strikes, they hit him fairly hard and we didn't hit at all.
Yeah, we did well. We played some really top-notch teams (for AAA), and didn't flinch.

We are really deep in pitching, but lost our ace after the 1st inning in game 1 of the tourny (aggravated a previous elbow injury...he EH'd for us the rest of the tourny), so that was 7 innings of quality pitching gone. We tried to save our #2 pitcher as much as possible, and ended up only needing him in relief for a total of 4 innings over 3 games, so we had him for a full start in the semi's, but his arm started hurting, so we lost those innings as well! The decided to pitch my son against one of the best teams in SoCal (SoCal Seahawks), and he pitched great!! 5 full innings (would have pitched 6, but he was out of innings), only allowed one run, and maybe 3 or 4 hits. We beat them 9-1 to get to the finals. But losing essentially 11 innings of ACE pitching did not help in the end and we lost 9-2 in the championship. The team was happy, though. They made a great showing, and I think teams are starting to take notice of them. My son is beaming, too...hopefully that showing moves him up in the rotation.

Oh, and in one of the classier moves I have seen since we started travel ball, the Manager of the Seahawks presented my son the game ball as the kids were shaking hands, saying that he truly deserved it. Very classy...I think he is still smiling from ear to ear almost 24 hours later.
Irish, CA Dad...

Same CA Dad as Info Sports?...

Irish...

Good job last week...Looks like the majority of Temecula Travel Teams are doing pretty **** well. All have won or placed in a tourney this year. The Heat took second in the MLK, Redhawks took fourth I think and they did pretty well in the Super Series Winter Nats. The Tides took first this week as well...Two weeks ago, the Titans took first in the NIT...

Not bad for a small little town acting as a gateway to LA and SD huh?

GnR
Yeah, Temecula is doing well this year so far. This town has grown tremendoously over the past 5-6 years, and is starting to produce some quality ball players. We could have done some damage at the little league tourneys, but we were forced to split into 2 divisions, completely diluting the talent pool. Unlike Conejo Valley, we actually followed the guidelines set forth by the league Roll Eyes
