Okay all you mommies out there...my '06 is going to his first showcase this weekend. PG California Underclass. HE'S calm as can be. I'M a nervous wreck. How do you get through this? And did any of you go to the showcase and watch? I can't decide whether to sit in the stands or bury my butterflies at the closest mall...Help Smile

Beepers- yes I went. I was lucky enough to meet Bighit, baseballmom (you know , the food fight mom!! Big Grin), and Tx 2004 Mom. Tx 2004 and I sat there together for moral support and Big kept us calm.
It all turned out just fine. My only advise is not to let your son know what you are going through. Just show confidance and don't make too big a deal out of it. If you tend to analyze every pitch, do it with a friend, but not with him!

And FEED him well! Cool Good Luck!
Don't miss a thing! All us college parents will attest to how fast it all goes. He's having fun; you have fun, too.

If things go well, you'll be there after to cheerlead and share the elation. Should things not go so well, you'll be there to point out the positive and remind him that the first showcase is to get used to the format and get rid of the nerves. It's all good.

Enjoy the experience....together.

Best of luck to him. applaude
3 words of advice ... GO !! GO !!! GO !!!!

We were fortunate enough to go to a TeamOne showcase in Arizona in the middle of June ... and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. He is a pitcher so you know he wasn't on the field for very long. And I too was nervous, but fortunately, I could blame the sweat on the Arizona sun.

One of the best things that happened for me while we were there ... I got to meet and visit with the mother of a player from a local rival high school (same league). As a result of that showcase and the e-mails that we exchanged afterwards, I can now count her as one of my dearest and best friends. Funny, too, since we thought the boys would become great friends and instead, we did !!!

Enjoy all aspects of the ride ... you won't be sorry you did !!!
Have to agree with everyone else... GO!
You will learn so much about how this recruiting thing works. Networking, too! And, if folks want to talk to you about your son, you will be available. The PG folks are great, very helpful, very friendly.

I was all "willy-nilly" that first time (regional showcase)...But I have to say, it has opened alot of doors for my son. It's now much easier...

You'll make some great friends! Sit back, relax & enjoy the "show"! Cool Real Cool
Wow, I really do love this board. People are so kind. So, I will sit in the stands and fight off the urge to sneak a little vodka into the 7-UP (Thanks, Justbaseball Big Grin) Seriously, I am looking forward to watching a lot of baseball-loving kids test themselves and each other this weekend. Now if only the weather behaves--last I looked they're predicting rain for Saturday Frown.

I can sympathize with you...my son pitches and I accompanied him to several showcases last summer. I had to be there, wanted to be there, but when he started pitching, I looked away...I would just listen for the umpires call...in fact I have watched entire games and actually just (really) watched our team's offensive innings...when my son took the mound, I found something else to look at. My friends and family always walk by me and tell me I'm missing a good game...he's been pitching since he was nine and he's 17 now...but I can't help it. I remember hearing about Pete Sampras' mom when he was playing tennis, they said she could never come to the matches because she would get too nervous...imagine....well I certainly can. My son thinks I'm insane...I think he's right. Well he's signed his letter of intent in October, so I guess everything worked out okay...and I can relax and maybe see him pitch this year (ha ha ha)
