TR - no, that is not what I'm saying. I just think it is humorous that you seem to take exception with his evaluation. I agree that the Mets have probably done more to buy a pennant contender than anyone, but look what that has gotten the Yankees lately.

I think one of the greatest things going on in baseball over the last five years is Arizona, Anaheim, Florida, Boston and Chicago all winning the series. While they all improved themselves through free agency, it shows you don't have to go to the excess of either New York team to get to the World Series. I expect that while both New York teams will compete throughout the season, we shouldn't be surprised if neither is in the fall classic again this year.

One never knows today who will win what

As for sox's evaluation, I call it a "blind statement" because the Sox have only added a solid hitter if he is healthy and gave up their starting CF to do it. Not really helping them other than Thome supposedly having a lot to do with Konerko returning

Yes the Mets have landed LoDuca and I hear there is more info to come this week
Don't understand why the Mets would give up their top rated pitching prospect for Lo Duca at 34 when Molina or Hernandez
(both younger) are available via free agency. Salary wise Lo Duca will cost slightly less then what Molina/Hernandez are asking but you would get a younger/better C and keep your top prospect. I don't get this one unless Molina/Hernadez have already told the Mets they aren't interested.
