More thoughts, more prayers

This is indeed a loss to our baseball community - it will not be the same walking into Reverchon and not seeing HB with a rake and a hello.

My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends.

We will all miss HB --- he was quite a character and one of the truly good guys of Dallas area baseball who really cared about kids. HB was a walking history book when it came to Reverchon and baseball in Dallas.

A truly sad day for baseball in our area.

oldest boy played in the DABA this past summer and HB was the one that placed him on a team. Just got the chance to meet him this summer and when ever I was at the games he always had a story to tell. Great guy.

I agree, it is hard to imagine walking into Riverchon Park and not seeing HB and talking about all of the players he had the pleasure of watching play there over the years. Our family was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time there the last 4 summers, HP made the experience memorable. He was truly one of a kind!

What a terrible day - now I cry again. First Rich, now HB. HB's obvious love for baseball and kids who play it will be sorely missed. Prayers and condolences.

I didn't know HB but I can tell that he was loved and it's obvious that he will be missed. I like to imagine he and Big Daddy Nowell, swapping great baseball stories about the DABA, Riverchon, and the characters they left behind.

Funeral Mass is set for Friday morning at 10 am at St Patrick’s Church, 9635 Ferndale Dallas, TX 75238. The family will host a reception & lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in the name of HB Kernodle to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or The Friends of Reverchon Park.

This is sad, sad, news. I've known HB since I was the freshman coach at Jesuit. I learned alot about maintaining a field from him, alot about baseball, and alot about life. He always gave you the time of day and I can't say that about a whole lot of people.

The way we have talked about him for the last few days I am upset that I never had the chance to meet him. All the work he did for DABA and the stuff he did at Jesuit wont ever be forgotten.

HB was a good man. I've gotten to know him over the last few years thru DABA, as well as he and his guys doing some field work for me. The stories, memories of players and people he knew was amazing. The scene/games at Reverchon will never be the same. We will miss you HB.

This is a very sad day for all of us they have been touched by HB. I know this summer he talked about all the new things he had in store coming up for Reverchon. We all know how much he cared for Reverchon and the DABA. Thank you HB, we will miss you.

I don't how many years I've known H B, but it's been for quite some time. He wouldn't even tell me what H B stood for. If heard his stories, I heard them several times over. But that's okay, I never heard a bad word one way or the other. He used to thank me for wearing Rawlings gloves because he said that's who he used to work for. I remember him for the longest always having a pet Lab with him.

Since Reverchon was the home field of DISD and they used it for playoff games, I would usually try to be in the Turtle Creek area if they had a DH scheduled just in case he didn't have help.

Thanks HB for all you did for every one. Gone, but never forgotten.
