Hey everyone, I'm wondering if you have any anecdotes from past Mother's Days, either funny or sentimental, involving food.

This is related to a little project I'm doing for my real job. If you have something to share, I may ask your permission to publish it in a newsletter (first name, last initial, so your secret is safe). Wink

"I remember the year when my 4-year-old decided to bake a nice fresh mudpie for me for Mother's Day" ...not really, but you get the idea. Wink Oh my goodness, that does remind me of the time my oldest son was about 2 years old and wanted to play with the pretty, shiny golden liquid (cooking oil). So he poured it out of the bottle in a big puddle on our living room carpet. Thank goodness that one WASN'T on Mother's Day! Big Grin

This isnt a good story for the paper but wanted to share it anyway. When my son was 14 he was playing on a travel team. They decided they were going to be in a tournament that was Easter weekend, meaning we would play Eatser Sunday. Well for me I draw the line for Easter and Christmas and playing baseball or spending time with family.
We told the coach we would not play on Easter. he called me and said what is the big deal. I told him we were having a ham dinner with my parents. He told me 'You can have a ham dinner any day of the week, who cares if its on Sunday". I stuck to my guns and said we would absolutely not be there.
Well that turned out to be my mom and dads last Easter. My mom died the following November and my dad 58 days later. Life takes you by surprise, so I will alwasy remeber spending that last Easter with my mom.
this has absolutely nothing to do with Mothers day, but as we approach mothers and then fathers day I miss them both a lot. sorry to take over the thread, but just wanted to journal that memory.
