It's that time of year for some of us. Seasons winding down in the next few weeks, seniors graduating, college selections/career choices being made. I personally play my last baseball game a week from today. I'm not ready to be done yet. My 4 years of college ball have flown by way too fast. Sadly, like we all do at some point, I must move on. I was just lucky to get the extra 4 years to play.

I can't do so without saying a few things before I make a shift in my role on a baseball team. I don't post here to often, so this may seem random to you all.

I need to thank you all here on the boards for being a part of getting me to where I'm at today, both as a ballplayer and a person. I've learned way more reading posts here than I could ever have imagined when I stumbled upon the boards as a junior in high school. Even though I play d3 ball, I learned so much about the recruiting process that helped me get ready to play college ball. Other discussions on the boards have helped teach me just how to play the game the way it should be played. I hope that if anybody here were to watch me play they'd say I'm doing it right.

I move on not knowing what my future really holds for me. All I know right now that playing the game is not included. Coaching it is, though, as I move on to coach in the Florida Collegiate Summer League in a few weeks. It is strange to think that the playing days are just about over. Really doesn't seem real yet. I guess now I just get to be like many of us here. Observe and help others. I only hope that I can put back into this game what so many have helped me get out of it over the last 16 years.

Folks......I know CC, though he may not know who I am.......in my spare time I work as the pitching coach at a school in the same conference he plays in.......I grabbed him after the teams shook hands about a month ago and told him that I loved watching him play in the four game series against us, and I meant it sincerely.

He is the only player I have said that to this season.

CC.....you will do well......feel free to stay in touch with me if there is ever anything I can do for you!! And congratulations on being you!!!

CC, I am pretty outspoken about my admiration for the DIII ballplayer. When I read this comment, I really get more than a little emotional for you. Whether you are looking back or looking forward, you will always find a sense of comfort and satisfaction from that type of effort and standard. What a terrific comment and insight on the joys/satisfaction of playing and competing. Congratulations. applaude applaude applaude applaude applaude

I agree with all here--you sound like a terrific young man. I am pleased that you had such a fulfilling baseball experience and were able to play for as long as you did. "All good things must end someday." But as you say, they will not "end", but merely change. Because of your positive experiences, you will make a terrific coach.

I wish that you could coach any of my children.

Good luck and best wishes. Savor your final innings as a player. Report back...I'll be thinking of you.
I only hope that when my son is done, whenever that may be. That he can feel the same way.

You don't need me to wish you luck, with an approach like yours you will have all you need.

Great post, great attitude. Thanks
