I have been curious for a while about junior college baseball players signing with larger 4 year schools and getting drafted. Can both of these actions occur after freshman and sophmore years? If so, how common is it for players to sighn on with a 4 year school after only one year of JC ball?

Texas Boy 2011,

It is very common for JC players to move on to four year schools.I would say that a majority move on after two years. Many colleges will not recruit a one year player from a JC.This is mainly out of respect of the JC coach and the development of his team and players.
That being said, it does happen. My own son did move on after one year. There are 5-6 JC transfers on his roster right now.Two after one year. His current coaches asked his JC coach before ever talking to my son, if they could actively recruit him.

If you play in a respected conference, and do well, put up good numbers, work hard, you have a good chance. Some schools do not use JC players, but many do.Good luck in your search to find a place to play after JC ball.Fan
