This was to protect for the rule 5 draft next month and big league spring training (automatic) until you are optioned back to milb. It's always the same whichever level you play, you made the cut, now you got to fight for a position for ML and there are only 25.

Some players were outrighted today to make room for those that have to be protected, one never even made it to STL. Now they are exposed to rule 5.

This is a business and this is how they do it, you are up one day and can be out the next.

But it's still a better place than most guys are at who throw 5 oz. balls into a zone! Congrats!!

Great news! Being protected from the Rule 5 draft sure beats the alternative. And making the 40 man is another step on the ladder - and an important one at that.

TPM - Please pass on our congrats to DK - it has been so much fun following him over the years. He has overcome a lot.

20dad - My wife and I went up to Manchester for 4 games this summer. I would have to say it was the nicest 4 day baseball trip I have ever taken.

Great stadium - very nice people - and just a fun time all around.

We will definitely miss that.
