Just wondering if anyone has same problem as my son. When he pitches too much he gets pain accross his bicep to his tricep on an angle from his arm pit to tricep. It just seems strange to me because most people seem to get pain in other places, I dont see anything in his mechanics other than sometimes rushing his motion with runners on.

It is almost like a straight line that extends from his armpit to tricep and it gets sore and then it will usually disappear as season and his conditioning get better. This year he did alot of long toss as the basketball season was wearing down.
Said his arm felt great and he was looking good with his pitching but with first varsity game he was rushing during strech and next day arm was sore..I just am not familiar with this part of arm being sore on other kids but that is where his gets sore..I have taken him to sports med docs in the past and nothing is supposed to be seriously wrong but this pain location bothers me. Like I said it usually goes away in a day or two.

If the soreness runs from the armpit to the tip of the elbow, then you're talking about the Triceps. If so, then that's a weird place to be feeling soreness because that muscle normally shouldn't be that active while throwing.

He could have either some strange mechanical problem (e.g. you talk about rushing -- exactly what do you mean) or a nerve could be being compressed somewhere else and causing weakness in the Triceps.

Folks--if you are not happy with one doctors opinion seek out other specialists for opinions

Dr Coach V Chris--get off the Marshall coat tails--he is not the type of doctor the kid needs to see, at least not my kid or any of my players.

Your background is QUITE LIMITED HERE---just because you coach your young sons, follow The Great DR. Marshall and write papers does not make you an authority that can recommend what to do other than see a good sports/ortho guy

CHOICE-- arm problems--do you get examined to Dr James Andrews or Dr. Mike Marshall? To me they are two different type of Doctors---with one you read his papers with the other you are in the real actual world of medicine--

I ask you to make the call for your own son(s) if God forbid you had to.

In closing I would request that u you stop misleading people--I do not believe that you are qualified to offer the so called info you are offering--

The one I took him to does surgery on alot of the pro's I really dont know who would be better than him in my location. Son came home today and said that he threw a bullpen with no pain so what is a guy to do...I have seen this problem every year so far and it usually goes away by itself but it just seems very unusual. I wanted to see if anyone else so this problem. Thanks for the comments...

We are going to see a load of more arm injuries

That's unlikely. The extent of the advice that I give people is limited to things like...

1. Don't show the ball to Center Field.

2. Don't always try to keep the fingers on top of the ball.

3. Keep the elbows at or below the levels of the shoulders.

By the way what is the fee for this "evaluation"?

Right now, I'm not charging people.

If I do, it'll be something like $20 or $40 dollars and I'm going to reinvest the proceeds in my project and use it to buy things like better cameras.
