I play in Chicago for Whitney Young High School. I play 3rd base for the freshmen team and today was our first game.

1st at bat: Ran the count to 2-2. I knew the hook was coming and I sat on it. He threw the duece, and it was outside, but the ump didn't think so, so he rung me up. I didn't like that...

2nd at bat: On the 1-0 pitch, he threw a fastball outside and I smashed it into right-center. I got a triple on that one.

3rd at bat: Popped out to second base. They brought in a flamethrower in the later innings, so I was happy to just put the bat on the ball.

My fielding was great (not to brag) , I had 4 put-outs, and no errors.

We played Mt. Carmel's Sophmore B team and we got beat 11-0. I still had fun though.

Yakyu Kid ...

First of all, welcome to the HSBBW ... it looks like you have just recently joined us. I think I can speak for most adults on this site and tell you that we really enjoy and appreciate input from the players who come on board to share their perspectives and stories.

I love your recap of the game and in particular, I love your attitude about the loss to an older team ... no excuses but your love for playing the game comes through loud and clear.

Congrats on that ... I am sure your parents are very proud of you and your attitude.

By the way ... your team should have scored if you were sitting on third after your triple ... you did your job Big Grin ... but then, I AM a mom !!!
