Congratulations Jackie!
Nothing more special than a new life born.
You sound very proud and should be.

I was hoping to take this opportunity to invite you over to the Ladies Only Forum. Perhaps your posts will be more widely accepted over there. Us gals chit chat about all kinds of things and get off of the subject of baseball every so often. Were very supportive of one another, and you are welcome to join us.
Anyone please correct me if I am wrong, but this website is generally and for the most part about baseball and most of us try and keep to the subject matter. ( although we have been known to get a little nutty & get off track once in a while! I am the first to admit guilt!! Big Grin )
So again,..congratulations,...please come over and join us gals in the Ladies Only Forum. We can be found under the green tab titled: Guys, Gals, and other Groups.

A word of caution too. Please be very aware that this is indeed cyberspace, and posting personal information runs a very high risk of falling into not so friendly hands. It concerns me when I see pictures of young children posted on the internet. Call me prude or paranoid,..it is indeed a serious concern of mine. I'd be careful about posting childrens names and other info also.
Just a word of caution.

Hope we see you at the womans forum!

Perhaps my question seemed harsh.....

Look, Jackie or anybody else who cares to think about this..... Of course we all don't talk baseball on every post. That isn't how life or a normal community works. However, most posters who come on here establish some personality and context for themselves first before delving into the other chit-chatty type stuff with the community at large. I looked at her other 6 posts and they all seem like personal family announcements.... It also appears that she has not even spent the time to observe that non-baseball/personal type posts are often placed in forums like unusually unusual or the LL as shortstopmom suggests. Where is the connection to the hsbbweb or the community at large other than random posts from a complete stranger?

All that said, great news Jackie. I hope you have some connection to baseball at least in some form because from your previous posts it did not appear you understood the nature of the site.
I understand and appreciate the concerns voiced here by members. I thought the first post by this new member was a little unexpected for a baseball site, and researched the IP address.

It seems possible to me that Jackie is a real person who found a friendly forum and wanted to make some new friends. It is also possible that this is just an attempt to get some of our members to visit the posted links and add our e-mail addresses to a SPAM list. I'm sorry that I can't determine the answer at this time, but I have turned on Notifications so that I receive an e-mail for each post by this new member, and will continue to monitor the situation.

Jackie, if the above concerns do turn out to be unnecessary, I hope you will understand our members' intentions to keep our forums a safe place for all to post and read without SPAM attempts, etc.

Julie
Julie,

Thanks for watching out for us and I will let you handle this. My only concern is when ClevelandDad posted

That just doesn't seem to be the reply for "a real person who found a friendly forum and wanted to make some new friends".

I'll behave Wink and see what transpires.
