Tonight my son plays his last football game. His team this year is undefeated, with this one last game for the state title.

It has been an incredible season. Winning this game would mean so much to him. More than anything, he wants it for his coach, who has built this program over 17 years, and has been two other times to the title game, but hasn't yet won it. Jeff really wants to be a part of bringing Coach Coury his first title.

In case anyone is interested, the game is on TV. If your cable system or dish carries Fox Sports NW you can watch what promises to be a very good high school football game. Here are the broadcast details:

I'm with everyone else and wish your son, his coach and you the best of luck. Winning a state championship is a community event. I remember my last football game and it is very similar to your son's. We were undefeated going into the championship game and ranked number two playing the number one team in West Virginia.

Unfortunately the other team had to be a bunch of jerks and beat us on a touchdown in the final 2:00. It was so weird because the one of the things I remember most is coming out for warmups and looking into the stands and it felt like the entire town and county was up there. After the game I was pretty bummed but there was a comfortable feeling because I know we all left everything on the field.

Here's hoping your son can have a different story to tell.
Sorry for going radio silence on the updates - I was doing them on my iPhone while coming back from LA (no I wasn't internet surfing and driving, doing them during rest stops). Anyway, I ran out of battery on my iphone and thus lost the internet...

I'm sorry to see that LO lost - but want to congratulate them on a fine season.

Thanks, everyone, for all your well wishes.

It was a very tough loss, mostly because we didn't play well. We didn't deserve to win, with four turnovers and countless holding and false start penalties.

Even with all the adversity, we were down by six with 5 minutes to go, and had the ball on the 50 yard line .... couldn't make a first down.

Jeff had a very good game, as did our whole defense. Southridge was a class act the whole way.

Thanks again, everyone, for your support!
