I am sorry to bother all of you with the history of the last 20 months of my son Marcos life, but I offered to GOD that everybody I know will hear this testimony of Miracle, hard work, and courage.
Everything started at half of the 2005 season when he injured a muscle in his right leg. This happen when Marcos was beginning to hit, but unfortunaly he lost the rest of the season. As soon he could, he started teraphy and when he haled his leg he resume baseball practice and by January he was in great shape getting ready for spring trainning.
On January 14 of 2006 he injured his right knee when his body turned to catch a bad hop at the same time that his leg slipped in the mud. He was carried out the field and later on the day was performed a MRI. The MRI diagnostic was torn of ACL, MCL, parcial tear of the meniscus, and humerus and tibia bruise. In other words, he will need cirugy, a year of recuperation, and it not warranty for a Shortstop that he could play well again.
It was a devastation, Marcos call me at my office crying like a little boy. few days later the Marlins doctor look it at the MRI and confirmed the diagnostic and recommended cirugy also. Marcos ask the doctor if with teraphy he could play in a couple of months, and schedule the cirugy for after the end of the season. The doctor laughind said, well.if you can resist teraphy I,ll be surprise.
Marcos convinced the doctor who order the teraphy for one month and repit the MRI after the 30 days.
After the 30 days teraphy, Marcos was able to walk without limping and with very little pain, but the result of the second MRI brought the same diagnostic. The Marlins doctor look at the second MRI and full of surprise said: You know, the muscles around the MCL are supporting the ligament and look like will hale soon. The torn of the ACL that in the first MRI seems complete, look know like it is parcial, the tear in the meniscus it disappeared, and the only thingh that will last more to hale is the bonds bruises. Doctor order teraphy for 30 more days and repeat the MRI after teraphy. At that time Marcos started to jugging and do some leg exercises in the gym, and after the 30 days of teraphy the final MRI and Marlins doctor visit. The doctor said looking at the last MRI: I don't know how happens, but you can resume running, and baseball practice at any time. He doesn't know how, he doesn't know who, but I that was prying every day, and the orations of the whole family, and friends, and the infinity love and mercy of GOD, was given a new opportunity to Marcos.
As soon the Marlins doctor gave Marcos the good news, the marlins trainner that was there with us call the office and at the other side of the phone line somebody was talking to Marcos. When I see his face going from happy rose color to devastating sad white I guess....."you know, we dind't know you were going to be ready for this time, and we already filled all the middle infielders places, I am sorry but if we can help you to get an independent league or so we let you know.
I told Marcos that GOD didn't finish his job yet, to be pacient and work hard to comeback to pursue his dream.
The first tryout (cardenals) came to soon and he was to rough still. One month later a tryout with Milwakee with almos 300 other players was useless.
Finally, in Octuber 2006 the Nationals gave him a personnal tryout and signed him. I have seeing few people work so hard like Marcos did during all this time, he add 15 lb of muscles, he (thanks to GOD) runs now faster that before the injury. But GOD had nother test to Marcos, and during the first game of Spring trainning, after hitting a line drive in the right-center gap for 2 rbi's, Marcos slipped turnning by first base and pull his left leg hamstring, losing the next 4 games. He was anxious to play and came back to early, and catching a groundball in the hole re-injured his hamstring this time with a little tear that kept him out for the rest of spring trainning.
Finally, day before yesterday, after almost a month in extended, Marcos was sent to Hagerstown and in his first professional game after 21 months of miracle, hard work and courage he went 1-3 with a BB, 2 runs, 1 rbi and a homerun. In my prays I asked GOD several times to switch my knee that I don't need no more with Marcos broken knee, I am limping from my right knee from about the same time that Marcos started to hale his, I know...I know, I am getting old and maybe is just arthritis, but please, let me think that my GOD made the miracle.
Faith is to believe what you don't see; The reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

Racab ...

Thanks for your testimony to God's awesome intervention. I too believe that you knee trouble might well be directly connected to Marcos' improvement. Have you considered having an MRI yourself to check it out Wink

Sounds like Marcos has what it takes to get to his dream, not the least of which are some of the intangibles we always discuss ... perserverence, motivation, great work ethic, etc. I am sure God will continue to bless Marcos' journey, as will bless his family as well.

Thanks again.
Racab,

Thank you so much for sharing. I went through a very rough time in my life a while back. A lot of folks who know the story have asked how I made it through. During all my trials one thing stayed very consistent. My mother never stopped praying for me. I didn't realize until I was able to see the surface just how much that had to do with my ability to hold on. Never underestimate the power of a heartfelt prayer.

Thanks again.

Tim
The power of faith is unbelievable. I was raised in an agnostic family and had been to church maybe 2-3 times my entire life. I am still not a churchgoer, but I pray now each day because I believe. I went through a personal crisis and asked God for help one day and HE definitely helped me through.. It took awhile, but I understand why HE took his time now:

Through suffering comes salvation and grace.
--Pope John Paul II

Tell your son best of luck in the future, and thank you for the reminder of the Power of God.
