This link is provided by HSBBW on the Recruiting Timetable information:

NCAA clearinghouse link

A student-athlete needs to register at the end of the junior year, but some students send the paperwork in a little earlier. It is required in order to determine if a student athlete is academically eligible to play NCAA sports, based on the classes taken and the grades received, as well as SAT/ACT scores. It is intended, I am sure, to ensure that the student-athlete has all his/her college prep classes in order. Be sure to check out the link and follow the requirements. Otherwise the student-athlete will not be allowed to participate in NCAA athletics.

Also, as a final thought, be sure to follow up and make sure he/she is registered in a timely manner and that nothing slipped through the cracks ... it can cause "hiccups" along the way if it isn't done in time.

Keep in mind that the clearing house has made erros. We had a young man sit out for three weeks this fall because his paperwork was not in order at the D1 school. The player in question had a 3.87 gpa from the local HS and was lost in the shuiffle at the clearing house.
My advice is to register early andf follow up prior to going off to higher learning.
Steve
