He can transfer to a two-year school and play immediately.
Assuming that the player has academic and athletic eligibility, he can transfer and play immediately at a D3 or NAIA school.
If additionally he has not transferred previously from a 4 year school, he can play immediately at another D2 school.
If additionally he was not recruited to the original D2 school, and has never received athletic money, he can play immediately at a D1 school, using 14.5.5.2.10.1 of the D1 Manual. A player becomes "recruited" (13.02.12.1) once a school
- Provides the prospective student-athlete with an offcial visit;
- Has an arranged, in-person, off-campus encounter with the prospective student-athlete or his parents, relatives or legal guardians;
- Initiates or arranges a telephone contact with the prospective student-athlete, or his PRLG on more than one occasion for the purpose of recruitment; or
- Issues a National Letter of Intent.
