I was at the Friday night and Saturday afternoon game. I watched the Sunday afternoon game on TV. The 16 inning Friday night game should be an ESPN instant classic.

The thing I’d like to comment on is the support and enthusiasm I witnessed for Nebraska baseball. Friday night the place was packed with nearly 8500 Husker fans. Although the weather was far from perfect, the three game series drew around 22,000 fans. (30 mph wind gusts blowing in)

The Nebraska program should be a blueprint for college programs around the country. In particular Northern and Central programs should especially take note. The vast majority of Nebraska’s players are home grown or located within the region.

College baseball is growing in popularity both in attendance and TV coverage despite the handicap that the NCAA puts on them at many steps along the way.

It’s also amazing how successful Nebraska baseball is and then you look down Interstate 80 in both directions where pathetic Iowa State Cyclones and the University of Colorado don’t even field teams. Those two colleges are a disgrace!

Back to the Nebraska vs. Texas game, kudos to both teams for putting on a great show. It would have been nice to see Texas have some balls and throw to Alex Gordon but they let their brains win out over their emotions. Both teams have good pitching. Nebraska looked pretty s****** (s c r a p p y)but I’d give the nod to Texas with a little more talent.

I think the reason we saw the same teams all weekend was a money issue---they set up in Lincoln and had their announcers there--to have three different games meant three set ups and announcer teams in three different sites

My son played against Nebraska in Las Cruces and he said to watch them arrive and disembark from the busses was unreal--- equipment people-- trtainers --the entire spectrum== and this from a kid at a pretty decent Division I program where they did not want for much
Got to watch the tail end of the Texas Nebraska marathon on TV. Whew! Ain’t college baseball great?
While some college baseball programs seem to be lacking support... many are alive and well. In our game Saturday in the SEC match-up between Auburn and Mississippi State at Starkville MS, the baseball fans were 10,978 strong and the game was televised on FOX Sports. Just up the road in the wide spot called Oxford, Mississippi, the match-up between Ole Miss and Alabama drew a crowd of 10,119 rabid fans.
