My son is an '09 graduate, LHP/OF (verbal commitment already)and will be playing in Jupiter this Oct.
Unfortunately, he was sidelined last yr and a conflict the yr before so this will be his 1st yr playing at the WWBA tournament in Jupiter. He is excited about being able to play this year, so I do not want to discourage him.
I've heard a lot of good things mixed with some bad situations, which is true of most large tournaments.
In which case, I need some advise/information/recommendations??
What he should do, what he should not do, places to eat, places to stay, any information would be helpful? How is this tournament different from other "Perfect Game" tournaments?

If he has the chance to go...............GO. It is the premier event in HS baseball hands down IMHO. The atmosphere, great games, great players, and just the fun of the tournament are worth it. My son and I went there for 2 years while he played, and I went two years after that because of the event. You always hear the negative comments of a few, but, the postitives that the majority experience are what counts.

I went two years before my son went. I went twice with him. And I will be going back this year. If you love baseball and you get the chance to go you need to go. It is simply awesome. Tremendous players , teams and atmosphere. Last year we lost in the round of 8 when my son hit a high fly ball to left field. Everyone in the stadium thought it was more than deep enough to score the winning run from third. The lf for the Tri State Arsenal throws an absolute missile to the plate nailing our runner on a bang bang play. We lost in extra innings. Awesome memories win or lose. And its a fact every coach from every school you can imagine will be there. Not to mention the professional scouts are there in droves. It simply is the best.
Thanks for all the great feedback and pm's.
I was able to get a hotel and we are excited about the opportunity.
My son will be playing with his home team, Chain Baseball Savannah / Columbus Ga., he is a lefty pitcher and outfielder, Number 32 (Matt). Please say hello if ya' see him.
I would really like to meet other posters if you are going to the tournament. Let me know what team and how I might be able to ID you and I'll try to make as many of those games as possible.
Best place to eat is the Crab House in Jupiter right on Jupiter Inlet by the lighthouse. Make sure you stay sharp with lots of BP before you go, pitchers will have the upper hand. Don't park in a no parking zone you will get a ticket. Be sure to check the rosters for future stars to see play. We saw Tim Beckham lat year and it's no surprise he was the #1 pick. Dad04 has is right about swinging dead cats and hitting a coach or scout. I think a lot of coaches were there to make sure their verbal commits didn't make any last minute changes.
Couple of things, buy the unlimited pass and schedule. When your son has time off, bring him back to watch the top teams and players, this gives them a great idea of why they are top prospects. It's an eye opener. The back fields tend to get muddy if there is rain, so don't wear your best shoes AND bring an umbrella.
I am hoping that this year, with all the rain that we have had, PG gets a break and blessed with great weather.
There is a possibility that son may be coaching or scouting with a team, so I will be there everyday if he does. Hoping to meet up with some of the websters.

No apologies for the plagarism.

Ain't that the place just due east on the road at the south of the complex. Sit's right in with a bunch of boat slips, with a big glass west window?
