Stop practicing for summer ball until you get finished with high school ball.

OR

Quit high school ball and concentrate on summer ball.

You are doing too much and you have made a commitment to two teams. Granted they will never play each other but you are committing yourself too much.

What if you get hurt during practice for your summer team - is that fair to your coaches and teammates on the high school team?

Is it fair to your summer team to work this hard for 4/5 months and then break down over the summer and your summer team lose you?

I think you should make a commitment to your high school team since it's first and stop practicing with your summer team. Pick back up with them when the high school season is over.

If your summer coach has a problem with that then you might be playing for a bad summer coach.

You are doing too much right now.

I agree...provided he is actually getting playing time for High School team.
Ive started on varsity since sophomore year. but im fully dedicated to both teams.I know highschool right now is above that but im still getting my summer work in because we are expecting big things this year and are in competitive tournaments and summer league. I live, think, eat, sleep baseball everyday. I'm not even going to senior week,im staying home and playing(i dont drink or party anyway) so i mean. I give 110% to each team. Although our summer team as been doing winter workouts from october.
Ok, at the risk of sounding too parental here....I understand completely the drive to play and give all you have. However, that is it --all you have--. Your body is sore, you aren't letting it rest, and you are setting yourself up for injury. Tendonitis is real, it's painful, and it doesn't go away overnight. Overworked muscles/tendons are more prone to injury like tears as well. You won't be good to yourself or either one of your teams if you aren't healthy.

I would also recommend that you think twice about missing senior week, there is life other than baseball and it is one of those "moments in time" that you can't get back.

Ice and stretch daily.
Yeah,i respect that but and yeah i do have a life, but baseball is a big part of it and about senior week,if we forfeit 3 games in our summer league, theres no questions or excuses your out of the league and about senior week, theres a big difference in going down and getting fully blazed and hammered with liquor and beer and getting arrested and girls then having a beer or two at a social event like o's or ravens game here.Because thats all senior week is BEER BEER BEER OCEAN AND BEER. Thats stupid, its not going to make a big difference i can go to the ocean anytime i want.
Outfielder,
Let's get this straight you are right now practicing for how many coaches? You've done this before?

Why don't you go back to them and ask what you should do?

I agree with most of the posts here, if either team depends on you, and you get hurt, that's not fair. Besides, IMO, you may think that's dedication even giving 110% to both, but it's really not. If you get hurt, you will give 0%. And as mom of two catchers stated, an overworked body can easily be injured.

I am not aware that any state allows one to practice for summer teams while practicing and playing HS ball.

You are very wise in your thoughts here! But listen to what everyone is saying. You body does need the rest! No need to peak now, you need to peak in the summer. You body will be tired by July even if you think you not.
