My brother is the catcher for the Silver Stage Nighthawks of Silver Springs, NV. Last weekend the Nighthawks won 4 out of 5 games to earn the top seed for the north in the state tournament. My brother, Jared, went the distance behind the plate, catching two games that Friday and three games that Saturday.

During that weekend Jared was named 1st team All-conference catcher in only his sophomore year.

Yesterday, the first day of the state tournament, the Nighthawks won games against both of the south teams which set them up for the championship game today. They were able to break a 5-5 tie in the 6th inning and hold on for the win in the championship game against Needles H.S.

Silver Stage is a relatively new school. This years baseball team earned the schools first ever league title and first ever state title. I'm really proud of Jared and his entire team. I came from a school that rarely had winning teams so this is a pretty exciting thing to me.

I am interested in how all of your teams did this season and also any individual honors.

Well our team probably won't get much beyond our first round (and we have to win the play-in game first!) but I did want to say how wonderful I think it is that you are so proud of your brother. My older two boys are always way more excited about how their little brother does than they are about their own accomplishments, and I know that means a lot to my youngest son. So I'm sure it means the world to your brother as well. Congrats to him and to you, for being a great brother!
Thanks, I really appreciate that. I am the oldest of 6 brothers and I have tried to show the same enthusiasm in the accomplishments of all my younger brothers. Sports is an easy thing to get excited about for me, so it makes it even easier. Jared is the most natural athlete in the family. I used to be #1, but when my little sister got into H.S. softball I realized that I was fading fast into third. I'm 26 with a wife and two kids of my own and my girls, ages 5 and 3, love to watch their uncle play too.
