2019 Drew Gilbert from Minnesota, LHP/OF just committed to University of Tennessee after requesting Oregon State allow him to de-commit after Casey's leaving and new hire.  Vitello had recruited him while at Arkansas and Gilbert reached out after making decision.  Big pickup late in the game for UT and good fit for Gilbert with Frank Anderson having great track record with LHP's.   Top player in Minnesota by PBR and 77th overall in nation.

On a side note, my son will have to definitely turn up his game with this new recruit coming in.  Reminder you never know how the landscape will change in college baseball from day to day.

I've been surprised how NCAA has let them out of NLI's.  All are due to coaches leaving, which is one of the reasons I think you should be able to leave.  No matter how much everyone says don't go to a college because of the coach, that is the connection most players have with a school.  If he leaves before you arrive one campus, you should be able to leave.  I'm a proponent of being able to leave without reprimand any time a coach leaves.  If coaches can leave freely, so should the players.  I know that would change dynamic of college sports but coaches leaving definitely also does.

Regarding never too late I think you also have to consider the level of the player, right? If a back of the roster or even middle of the roster type talent wants to find a spot late he might be out of luck because the roster is mostly set. But for a premium type of talent (say a pitcher throwing 97 with some control) there always is a spot.

I agree. I also believe if a coach gets his program placed on probation it’s the player who should be able to leave, not the coach. It could be called The Calipari Rule.
