Mlb is testing a new no shift rule.

The first test in that minor league was two hitters on each side of the bag and everybody has to be on the dirt and not on the grass.

They apparently found out it didn't change batted ball data too much so now they are testing the pie slice rule which blocks an area behind second base for infielders

Never understood why the (lefty) batters just don't bunt all the time when there is a big shift.
seems like all plusses and no minus-especially in close games...
blows my mind sometimes
which is hard to do these days.
you would think that if it was a common expectation then the "shift rule" would work itself out without rules intervention.
