Looking at buying a good pair of batting gloves that will last the whole season. Any use the Spyderz brand? My son likes the look of those. I would prefer not to spend that kind of money if I can help it, but if they last the whole season it is worth it! I did do a search but couldn't find anything recent.

IMO, bad goal. A - no such thing. B - if there's anything you want him to wear out a lot of is batting gloves.
Unfortunately, if you were to find a leather thick enough to accomplish that, the hitter would lack good feel. Since they are mostly sold in pairs now, and the bottom hand is the one that wears out for most, one trick is to find another kid that is the same size but bats opposite handed than your son. Each buy a pair and just use the bottom hand so you have two instead of one.
Thanks for the input! That makes a lot of sense. Then I will definitely stay away from the more expensive ones and get decent ones.
My son gets blisters whenever he gets the "wrong" batting gloves. Maybe the leather is a bit loose and folds over, I'm not sure what causes it, but it drives me nuts to get a brand new pair of gloves and then he can't wear them. When he finds a glove that works for him I buy a whole bunch of them, and he just works through the stack as the season progresses.
Try the XProtex gloves. Expensive but comfortable and a little extra protection if he takes one off the hand.
My son developed a subcutaneous blister on his left palm that would only start healing if he completely stopped swinging a bat. We got him palmguard brand gloves (amazon sells them and they get good reviews) and he says they’re working- we’ll see if what’s left of the blister goes away in the next few weeks as he has hitting 4 times a week from here on out.
My son used the Spyderz gloves last season and they held up for the most part. After 80+ games between summer ball, USSSA All-American tournament and Fall Ball and thousands of BP swings they did finally fall apart. But they did protect his hands during all of that.
Great, thanks!
My son has had two pairs of the Spyders. His only complaint was the Velcro--but he's one that likes to have them so tight that he's nearly cutting off circulation. They stood up very well to the normal-kid wear and tear over countless swings, though. He's had good life from Franklin, too. He's now trying out some of the Komodo ones (made by the Lizard Skin folks). We'll see how they hold up.

We are trying something new this year. My freshman son was given a new Easton wood bat for winning a Omaha type challenge at his high school winter workouts and we are trying the VukGripz tape and gloves. They just arrived today, so over the next few weeks we'll see if they are worth it.
Keep us updated!

How are they working? In market for a new pair that will last three weeks until they fall apart and son needs new pair.
BTW, my son got the spydrz gloves and they are lasting longer then any of the others he has had. They are definitely wearing, but more slowly then any others. I do recommend them.
Try this: Buy whatever batting gloves your son likes at Dick’s. Get the warranty they sell in store. They will replace gloves or $ when the gloves fail.
