Today was my son's last high school baseball game. They have taken 2nd in state the last three years. It was a tough loss today. It is time to start a new chapter in our life. High school is over and now on to college. I had never heard this saying until our seniors adopted it as their motto. I think is sums up my feelings. "Every new beginning is some other beginnings end." Good luck to all boys and families in their future plans.

I wish all those with new journeys to start in the fall the best of luck. My daughter and youngest child will be off to college come fall. She's giving up playing any sports, but there is still the combination of excitement and sadness over the end of one road and the beginning of a new one. Hugs to all you parents, players and others as you explore these bittersweet days.
Yahoo! We have a new beginning at our house too! As we celebrate graduations and seemingly endless endings, I am pleased to announce that Chris will be playing ball (and - oh- do we go to class too????-) at Fresno City College next fall.
Thanks to all of the wonderful ladies here who have helped me keep my sanity and given helpful suggestions like brownies, brownie batter, etc.... My recomendation is a nice California wine to go with that chocolate.
Now that Chris has made his decision, time to go on a diet so I can look good in red (school colors)....
My love to all of you.... Connie
mikamom--congrats on your son's commitment! Catcher #1 is realizing he is actually going to have to take some classes too, I've been trying to get him to pick classes, but he always seems to have a reason not to....

Yeppers, I know the "now its time to go on a diet" feeling, please forgive me--time for a little bragging on my part--I have lost 50 lbs!!! (sad to say I had that much to lose...and a few more). It had been slowly building on me for many years (kids, divorce, back to college, marriage, another kid, then having 5 teenagers at one time, yada yada) and especially last summer with all the traveling baseball, I gained a little more. So, this year is the year for me to get back to my old self. I can't tell you how much better I feel. I am hoping to look ok in red too, lucky for me its red and black for catcher #1's new school colors.
Congrats to Mikamom on your son's commitment! You are going to have so much fun!!

Mom of 2 Catchers - Congrats to you on the 50 lbs~! I started to ask you how you lost it but I guess we all know it takes eating right and exercising! It's amazing how fast the weight comes on now - so hard to take off! Good luck to Catcher #1 at school next year!!

Shortstopmom - what's up with your son? Have things worked out for his college & baseball plans? You are always so great with congratulating everybody else that we would like to start congratulating the shortstop son! I may have just missed it..

Okay, no more excuses - gotta go on that walk now!!
Mom of two catchers - how amazing of you. I am trying. I am swimming and trying to eat better. Son's college team is maroon, but it wouldn't matter what color they are, I need to lose weight. HS is black so that's been good, but. . .

Sounds like we need a thread for health and weight loss suggestions and encouragement. I think I'll start one.
