As I was sitting in my lounge chair watching at Ohio State beat Wisconsin, I wanted to know a little bit more about the New Mexico State Baseball Team.

In 2020 they will have a new coach, the old Coach Brian Green is going to Washington State. It will be interesting to see if Green brings the same recruiting philosophy to Washington State.

2019 Quick glance 33 of the 35 players are out-of-state

New Mexico State 2019 Distribution by State

Which is interesting once you look at the State Participation for New Mexico

In 2019 there were 213 players from New Mexico playing college baseball.

For example, team relies heavily on JUCO players, which makes some sense baseball on the  the Residency (In-State/Out-of-State) Insight and the State Participation Report.

They also have have many players participating in Collegiate Summer League

Interesting data. All I know from watching them both this past year and in 2017.. they are some HITTING team. Not sure how many pitchers get drafted from there. Son's school got a nice deal playing them as they offered  a 4 game series (one of a few) and apparently have a tough time getting preseason matchups from the east (probably due to the travel). Was funny as they had 8-10 games under their belt and it was son's season opener both times.  NMSU's second baseman (from AZ) will likely be a top 10 draft pick next year. Not your typical second baseman as he can flat out mash and carry a high BA. The last hitter I saw like him (also 2B) was Oregon State's Nick Madrigal and he's doing fairly well for himself.

There are 11 JUCO transfers new to the WSU roster this fall, mostly Jrs but a couple Sophs as well. So he is sticking to the philosophy of bringing in JUCO guys to hopefully make a quick impact on a long struggling program. Will be interesting to see the results

WSU 2019 Transfers were low compared to the previous 2 years
