OK. I will start this off. Welcome to the site. I don't think brand name is as important as characteristics. First, it should be small. No more than 11 incnes and 10 or 10.5 incnes if you can get confortable with it. You need a soft pocket and pretty stiff backing. The idea is that you can squeeze the baseball in the pocket of the glove for tag outs and it can't be kicked out but at the same time can open the glove so the baseball "rolls out" as it hits the pocket for turning double plays.

For characteristics only, I like the Nakoma gloves with the hard leather back and the kangroo pocket.

My 13 year old Shortstop plays a Louisville Slugger TPX PRO43CB. It's 11.5"

He loves it. I don't like to use the word stiff but it is definitely the strongest-feeling leather of any glove he or I have owned. Maybe "hard" is a good word, from TP344 above.

Anyway, bought it in December, worked out all winter and have now played 50+ games with it and he loves it.

Also, HeyBatter's website looks good...$10 cheaper than what I paid for this glove.
