I saw one of my favorite players on Twitter today, Dale Murphy, and he was promoting a new app called "www.up17app.com" where a player can send his pitching and/or hitting vids into them where they will have actual ex-MLB players and/or coaches view them. After reviewing them the player will get back a critique from that ex-MLB along with a certificate of authenticity. I've never seen anything like this but it does go to show how technology is opening doors that are new and innovative.
I'm not certain who the owner is, but below is a short bio as to why the app was created.
THE STORY BEHIND UP17
Our name is based on two things. “UP” is intended to convey that our services will help youth ballplayers “up their game.” The “17” is an homage to the inventor’s oldest brother, a talented baseball player who was about to sign a minor league contract when he was diagnosed with cancer. His playing days over, he committed himself to coaching and teaching others until he lost his battle with cancer at the age of 27. Along the way, he made an indelible impression on a number of young athletes – several of whom went on to play Major League Baseball.
I guess the only downside I see for the moment is that it is not Android-ready, but they said should be up and running very soon.
