With the pitching of senior newcomer Evan Blakely, Highland Park got back in the District 10-4A race by defeating 4A's top-ranked Mesquite Poteet.
Blakeley, showing a live fastball and nasty slider, transferred from Cistercian a few weeks ago. His first pitching assignment came last week when HP defeated Colleyville Heritage at The Ballpark in Arlington.
HP's hitting surge that included a home run blast from fast-rising prospect, rightfielder Seth Gardner.
