Newman Smith on brink of perfection

The Newman Smith baseball team is on its way to a memorable season. If Newman Smith (20-9, 13-0 District 8-5A) defeats R.L. Turner in its regular-season finale at 7 p.m. today, it will be the second time in school history that it finished district undefeated.

But the team is no stranger to the playoffs. Newman Smith has won district 17 of the last 21 years.

Go Trojans!!!
