A 7 year old boy was at the center of a Chicago Courtroom when he challenged a court ruling on his custody. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents so the judge granted custody to his aunt. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt had beaten him more than his parents and he refused to live with her. When the judge sugggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they had also beaten him.
After considering the rest of the family and learning that domestic violence was a way of life among them, the judge allowed the boy to propose who should has custody of him.
After 2 recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted cutody to the Chicago Cubs, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
