I am getting through with my Junior year of high school and I've been thinking a lot about colleges lately and I would love to play college ball somewhere even Juco or D3 would be a great achievement for me.
We've played 14 games this year here's my stats if anyone wants to comment
.385 avg/.407 OBP/.617 SLG/10 RBI/5 runs/HR 1/ 2B 3/ 1B 6
Welcome to the hsbbweb Citrus!
Your numbers are fine and indicate to me that you more than likely have the talent to play college ball. If you just leave it there however, your career will end after high school.
Always remember - recruting is two things - talent + exposure.
Couple of stories to highlight this principle...
Since you are from Wyoming, lets suppose you wanted to buy a four wheeler to get you around on the wide open spaces of Big Sky country. Lets assume you saw an ad in the paper for the perfect four wheeler at the perfect price. In other words, it had all the stats you were looking for such as make, model, condition, price, etc. Would you just send the person a check and go pick the vehicle up sight unseen and based purely off the listed "stats" or would you want to go try it out before making the purchase? I think I know what your answer would be...
College recruting is the same way. No respectable coach will recruit you sight unseen and thus it does not matter if you are hitting .800 with 10 homeruns if they cannot watch you perform. How do you make that happen?
Since we are from near Cleveland Ohio, the weather is terrible during the high school season so I know what you are dealing with. I have been to games where it was snowing for example. Scouts were not flocking up to watch those games and I doubt they are in abundance up there in Wyoming. If your summer team travels to tournaments that are scouted, that is one possible way to get the exposure you need. The guaranteed way to get exposure is to attend showcases where the recruiters are known to attend. If I had to do things all over again, I would have had my son attend at least two showcases. One to get his feet wet and find where he needed to improve and a second one for all the marbles. I believe the Perfect Game events are the very best ones and they have recruiters from all levels of baseball. There also may be some local showcase events for colleges in your area.
Here is a list of alternative ways for exposure and posted by shortstopmom:

#1.) Have son call college coach and ask for a tryout or workout with the team.
Cost = mileage, gas, and time.
( You would be suprised at how many coaches will be accommodating . )
#2.) Make a video and send it out via email.
Cost= price of CD and an afternoon with your son.
Krakatoa just made one of his son and put it out on U-Tube!
#3.) Attend college showcase or camp.
Cost varies.
In our area most Div.I's have cost around $100-$239. ( depending on length of camp )
Division II around $50-60.
Son went to a JUCO camp.
Cost $30.
Was seen my MLB scout and got selected to tryout for the Area Code Process.
Area Code tryout: free.
Seen by K-Sate and others around the country while there.
#3 1/2.)* Anyone can fill out an Area Code questionnaire for free on their website.
Although we did not attend one, I believe they have free ( or very low cost ) Area Code camps.
#4.) Attend Pastime Tournament Showcase.
I think their entry fee ran about $55-$75.
30-40 college recruiting scouts in attendence.
#5.) PG showcase: $500,.... and more exposure than one could ever imagine!
#6.) Send colleges your Spring schedule and then follow up with invites for them to come watch.
Be persisitant! Sometimes coaches are looking for the athlete that truely has interest in them!
